As far back as Shannon can remember, she has been fascinated by mechanical objects. Whether it was a bicycle, radio or car, she would take things apart to understand the intricacies of how they worked. As a young athlete, this interest in mechanics also applied to the human body, and she became determined to figure out how to improve her strength and performance through training and diet. Her interest in science, the human body and athletics continued through college, where she studied biological sciences and biomechanics, while playing a division one sport. Shannon was focused on being as healthy and strong as possible, but was plagued by a myriad of health problems despite a rigorous workout routine and what at the time was thought to be a “healthy” diet. By mainstream standards, she should have been at the top of her game, but instead she was exhausted, losing hair and in constant pain. Even with access to team doctors, many tests, etc., none of the professionals could figure out what was wrong with her, and she never felt optimal during her collegiate athletic career. Determined to figure out why she wasn’t feeling healthy and to be able to prevent others from going through what she went through, Shannon went on to get her doctorate in physical therapy with the intention of becoming an expert in human performance. When she graduated and entered the medical system, it became clear to her early on that nothing the system was doing was meant to solve a problem, it was merely treating a symptom. Once again frustrated with this system and the lack of answers, Shannon started digging deeper into the science and found doctors and scientists who were seeking answers to these problems. She spent hours reading books, research articles, reviewing textbooks and studying physics, but it wasn’t until she came across the work of Dr. Ray Peat that everything started making sense. With the information Shannon was able to gain from studying his work, all of the pieces came together and she started to see amazing results in her clients with whom she applied these principles. Shannon has walked away from the confines of mainstream medicine and is here to help people unwind complex medical problems by offering answers and solutions. No matter what lifestyle or level of activity, the goal is to optimize health beyond healing.
